Multicast Broadcasting
Planet eStream includes Multicast Broadcasting support as standard. Multicasting is a process that saves bandwidth on your Educational Local Area Network by providing a broadcast for users to 'tap into'.
As the users are viewing a multicast video/audio broadcast, the content is effectively published as a single stream, rather than as a stream to each user.
Multicasting is an advanced feature and requires multicast enabled hardware. For sites where Multicasting is not possible, Planet eStream provides video/audio streams in a standard (Unicast) format.
